How to upload excel to database in MVC

This article shows you a simple approach to uploading data from Microsoft Excel into your SQL Server database using Entity framework in ASP.NET MVC.

So, let’s start!

First, create a new ASP.NET MVC project from Visual Studio.

CreateNewProject

ChooseMVC

In your home controller, add a new action method named UploadSample as shown below:

Now, right click on the UploadSample method and choose Add View
Leave the default view name as shown and click Add button as shown below:

Update your view as shown below:

UpdateYourView

Now, in your controller, add the following methods

UploadMethod

GetExcelData
